Mapping form fields

Mapping is what tells Connect which form should send to which CRM, and which of that form's fields become which CRM fields. It's configured per form on the OtterContact Connect settings screen, under Form Mapping.

1. Choose the form

Three selects cascade in order:

  1. Form Builder — Contact Form 7, WPForms, Gravity Forms, or Fluent Forms (whichever are active on your site — see Supported form builders).
  2. Form — every form Connect found for that builder.
  3. CRM — any CRM you've already connected (see Connecting a CRM if this list is empty).

2. Map the fields

Once all three are picked, a Field Mapping section appears. Connect auto-discovers the fields available on the connected CRM's contact record, so you're mapping against your CRM's real field list rather than guessing API names. Match the form's Name, Email, and Phone fields to their CRM counterparts and save.

Email is the field Connect uses to decide whether a submission creates a new contact or updates an existing one in the CRM — so it should always be mapped to a real email field on both sides.

3. Save and test

Submit the live form once after saving. A successful push creates or updates a contact in the CRM immediately — check the CRM's own contact list, or the Connect Log to confirm the submission went through.

More than one form

Free plan covers one connected CRM and one mapped form. If you've mapped a form before, it appears in a table above the picker so you can jump back in and edit it — selecting a different form/CRM combination there starts a new mapping instead.
