Forms
Creating a form
From the plugin's Forms screen, click Add New and give the form a name. Every new form starts with a Name and an Email field — Email is required by default.
Provider, list, and field mapping
Pick a connected provider (Mailchimp or Constant Contact) and the audience/list to subscribe people to. Name and Email are the two fields that actually sync — Name maps to the provider's first-name field (Constant Contact also splits off a last name if one is typed), and Email is the subscriber's address. You can add extra fields to a form for your own records, but only Name and Email are forwarded to the connected provider today.
Embedding the form
Every form renders via a shortcode/tag:
- WordPress:
[ottercontact_form id="123"], pasted into any post, page, or widget that supports shortcodes. - Joomla:
{ottercontact-form id="123"}, pasted into any article or module that processes content plugins.
Replace 123 with the form's ID, shown on the Forms list.
Double opt-in
Toggle Double Opt-in on the form editor to require subscribers to confirm via email before they're added to your list:
- With Mailchimp, this sets the subscriber's status to pending until they click the confirmation email.
- With Constant Contact, this sets
permission_to_sendto explicit, which triggers Constant Contact's own confirmation flow.
Leave it off for single opt-in — subscribers are added immediately.
